How to set up Reddit Ads and connect them with AI agents

Create a Reddit ad account, then connect it in AIM. The AI agents prepare paused campaigns for communities that fit your offer, with copy that matches how each community talks.

Reddit Ads lets AIM's AI agents reach people in specific communities. They prepare paused campaigns for awareness and traffic, and read spend, impressions, clicks, and conversions. On Reddit, tone matters, so Copywriter writes each ad to fit the community it will run in. Every campaign arrives paused. Nothing spends until you approve it.

At a glance

  • Time: about 10 minutes.
  • Access you need: the Reddit user that manages the ad account.
  • What AIM can do: prepare paused campaigns and read results.
  • What AIM cannot do: turn on spend, post in communities as you, or see your Reddit password.

Before you start

  • A Reddit account in good standing. Brand-new accounts with no history are often limited.
  • Permission to advertise your product. Reddit restricts some topics, and AIM cannot get around those rules.
  • A landing page that matches the claim in the ad.
  • In AIM, the Owner, Admin, or Marketer role on the workspace.

Set up Reddit Ads

  1. Open ads.reddit.com and sign in with the Reddit user that should manage the ads.
  2. Create an ad account. Set the country, time zone, and currency to match how you will pay.
  3. Add a payment method in Reddit when you are ready to spend. AIM never stores your card, and connecting does not start billing.
  4. If a teammate will click Connect, add them to the ad account first.
  5. Note the ad account name. You will pick it in AIM.
  6. Spend a few minutes in the communities you might advertise to, and read their rules. Many dislike ads that feel like a broadcast. Knowing that helps you review what Copywriter prepares.

Connect Reddit Ads with AIM's AI agents

  1. Sign in to AIM and open Integrations, then Reddit.
  2. Click Connect Reddit. Reddit asks to let AIM identify your user and read or draft ads.
  3. Approve with the Reddit user that manages the ad account.
  4. Choose the ad account for this workspace. A workspace uses one ad account at a time.
  5. When the badge says Active, the connection is ready.

What happens after you connect

Here is what AIM does with the connection, in plain terms.

  1. Your access is stored privately. Reddit gives AIM an access grant, not your password. AIM keeps it encrypted, uses it only for this workspace, and deletes it from AIM when you disconnect.

  2. The agents read results on a schedule. About twice a day, Analyst & Reporter reviews spend, clicks, and conversions. If something needs action, Performance Optimizer writes up a proposed change for you. You can also click Refresh insights on the Reddit page at any time.

  3. Every campaign is checked before it reaches your account. Before a prepared campaign is sent, AIM checks that:

    • it is paused;
    • the budget meets Reddit's minimum and your workspace budget;
    • the landing page link carries tracking.

Ad copy is checked against Reddit's length limits and common policy problems. A draft that fails a check is not sent.

  4. You approve, then it can spend. Prepared campaigns show as Needs your approval on your AIM dashboard and in Activity, and you get an email. You review the communities, the copy, and the budget before anything goes live.

  5. Nothing is posted as you. The agents prepare ads only. They never comment or post in communities under your username.

  6. Everything is logged. The Agent work on Reddit list on the integration page records every time an agent read from or prepared something in this account.

Which AI agents use this connection

  • Campaign Planner uses Reddit for awareness and traffic when your audience gathers in communities.
  • Media Buyer prepares campaigns. They stay paused until you approve spend.
  • Copywriter matches each community's tone so the ad does not read like a generic banner.
  • Analyst & Reporter reads spend, impressions, clicks, and conversions.

If something looks wrong

  • No ad account appears. That Reddit user has not created an ad account yet, or the account was created under a different user. Create or switch, then connect again.
  • Choose an account. You signed in but have not picked an ad account yet.
  • Sign in again or Expired. Reddit ended the access grant. Click Connect Reddit again.
  • Needs attention. AIM could not reach the ad account. Open the Reddit page in AIM to see the reason.

What stays in your control

Disconnecting in AIM stops the agents immediately and removes AIM's access grant. Drafts in Ads Manager stay paused unless you turn them on. To revoke access on Reddit's side too, remove AIM from the authorized apps in your Reddit account preferences.
